Corinne

To celebrate the life and genius' of photographer Corinne Day who passed away last August a small exhibition will run for just one month at Gimpel Fils in London.

Day's pictures junk the materialistic trappings of the 80s. Instead of glossy aspiration, she celebrates the ordinary – cracks in the wall, Rizlas on the floor, the grotty carpets immediately recognisable to anyone who's ever lived in rented accommodation. Out go big hair and shoulder pads: in come drainpipe jeans and secondhand shirts (not yet described as "vintage"). A picture of a young man lying topless by a lake as the sun goes down foregrounds the litter, gravel and muddy patches that earlier fashion photographers would have been at pains to remove.

Beauty has been found in its purest form. Like it says on Kate Moss' necklace 'heaven is real'

Another huge part of my work experience was working on the ISME Fashion PR team. ISME is a fashion brand that launched this January making a huge impact on its over 40's audience. Their value that fashion over 40's does not have to be boring or safe has brought them to the forefront of the press and the public. They recently did a publicity stunt with a shoot on Bournemouth Beach featuring 'real women', with Goks Wans, Brix Smith-Start being the face of the campaign. Brix is an incredibly confident bubbly woman and its amazing how infectious her self-confidence is. The quote of the day had to be when Brix was asked, "do you think men are self conscious of their bodies?" and she answered in her American drawl "I think men are self conscious about their willies!!"...enough said, this sound bite did NOT make the final cut!

Social Networking is a huge part of a PR team keeping ahead of the clients competitors. Twitter, Facebook and Blogs is something that Crown Paint are hugely into and throughout my internship I wrote all the tweets, facebook posts and blogs for them. Its nice to see your words and your work right there on their websites...

Working girl.

Spent a month as an intern at BJL, the UK's most awarded advertising agency, in the PR team.
The fear of being a mere coffee and tea girl soon disappeared when i was being given jobs with a lot of responsibility behind them.

I worked as part of Crown Paints press office, focusing on the up and coming press launch for their 2012 trends. This is where a team of 8 stylists predict colour trends for 2012, closely linking in with the fashion and design trends. One of my main jobs was to do venue searches for the launch, where we decided on a gallery in Shoreditch and invite the press and journalists including stylists and editors of ELLE and ELLE Decoration. These are just some of the simply gorgeous colour trend predictions by stylist Joanna Feeley...

and here are some from the blogger 'What Katie Wore'...

Interiors really can be as beautiful as clothes.
This summer i spent two months travelling in Australia and ive got to say its really opened my eyes to how much more there is out there and how much more of the world i want to see. Possibly some of the best months of my life, more amazing than i could of hoped for, and better than any money can buy! Here are just a few of the 100's of photos i took...

Next year is already being planned as we speak!

Today I spent the afternoon with Mum, wandering round the charity shops at home. Having only moving into the town in the week i came to uni, i havnt really had much time to explore what Clitheroe has to offer. And my god it has some hidden treasures! It is jam packed full of charity shops, but we found the most amazing charity shop with some gorgeous clothes at incredibly cheap prices. We stacked our arms full with things to try on, and the lady let us use the upstairs changing which is in the wedding dress room. And yes i did get very excited at the sight of allll the beautiful wedding dresses and begged mum to let me try one on!

The one i picked out was gorgeous to say the least, sleek and simple, and it glided over my body. With a very Audrey Hepburn silhouette. The back and stomach was made up of intricate silk thread and it felt absolutely incredible to wear.  At only £25, a huge bargain seen as though it is by Joseph Ribkoff...mum bought it for me! No, dont worry i dont intend to get married anytime soon! Instead im going to have it altered and cut into a shift dress so that i will get some wear out of it. Its beautiful to say the least....

Apologies for the poor photos....mobile snaps!

a b c

A compulsory part of our portfolio was to create an alphabet using our own photography...own being the word that i then forget and proceeded to create one using other photos! When i did find out i was almost half way through and really enjoying it, so i though oh what the hell i'll finish it and put it in anyway!

The thoughts behind my alphabet is that each letter is a professional model with their name beginning with that letter....which i then take the image and manipulate and change in photoshop. I really got into it, if only there was more than 26 letters in the alphabet..
